Week 2, Day 2

Well I failed epically last night. I ate pretty healthy all day but then when it came around to about 8pm and I was hungry, I reached for the naughtiest thing in the fridge: pepperoni pizza and chicken wings. This was terrible for two reasons: it's pizza and wings, AND I failed at staying pescetarian. Just one slip up in over a week, meat-wise. So that's not that bad. But what IS that bad???

CHICKEN WINGS ARE FIVE POINTS EACH!!! EACH!!! So I had four, which means that just the four chicken wings alone were 20 points. EPIC FAIL. I should have looked it up before I pulled them out of the fridge. Then I probably would not have eaten them.

It's too bad I don't live alone, because then I could control the contents of the fridge and when I feel like splurging, still be held to, like, a Toaster Strudel (4 points) as opposed to buttered popcorn (10 points). UGH. I already wiped out all of my FLEX points for the week with that little indiscretion. And then one more. Maybe I'll be good all week and not have failed so epically in the end.

So I'm going to Wii Fit for at least two hours today. At least 500 calories, preferably more. We'll see how long I can keep going. I'm not looking forward to my body test today because I know my little BMI line is going to go back up because of this.

Week 2, Day 1

My BMI score on the Wii Fit has gone down for the last two days. LET'S KEEP THIS TREND GOING!!!! I like the daily body test because it lets you see daily progress (or lack thereof) and it motivates you each day to do more exercise and eat even better to see how you can score better on the body test.

Day 5

Ok so figuring out the points values for the In-n-Out yesterday was too hard, so I just left it. I'm starting week 2 tomorrow, anyway. I'll try to make Week 2 more successful than my 5-day Week 1.

So today I discovered Free Step on the Wii. It counts your steps on the board while you watch TV. It isn't as rewarding or intense as Advanced Step but it's good for when there's too much good stuff on TV!! It times you for however long you set and then gives you a pace you can hear from the remote and adjust faster or slower as you please. I'll probably use this, but I don't want it to take the place of at least 30 min of more intense cardio using Advanced Step or Hula Hoop.

Grocery Haul

So here are the things I am going to try and make up the majority of my diet with along with their point values. I was in luck today because the Green Giant steamers and the Gardenburgers were on sale for more than half-off!! I'll have to try the Gardenburgers soon and grab another box before they go off sale!!

Day 3

Well the last two days I managed to use the Wii pretty well. However both days I gave in to buttered popcorn and chocolate for an evening snack and total that's like 12 points just for that.

I also discovered that Apple Jacks are a much better breakfast than Frosted Mini Wheats. I thought I was winning with the mini wheats because it has 6 grams of fiber per serving, which is twice as much as Apple Jacks per serving. However, it also has almost twice the calories. So really I could eat two bowls of Apple Jacks for the same points as one bowl of mini wheats and get the same amount of fiber and fat. Good to know.

Also I need to switch to skim milk. 3 points for a cup of milk is too much, and since I'm just using it in cereal, I won't miss the 1%.

The wine isn't helping either but I'm gonna choose to ignore that for now :).

Day 2

So far today I have not been motivated to do my Wii but I still have time. I had a strange desire to shower early today for some reason, so I did it before workout time and then I didn't want to get sweaty. But I will.

I am going to fail epically again today at staying under Points. I'm just thinking it's going to take practice, like to get four stars on Basic Step. Just get better at it every day. And already I've been thinking more about what I eat and resisting eating things that are high in points. Today I'm being done in by the last shrimp in my Trader Joe's Reduced Fat Battered Shrimp box, 9 being left but 6 being the serving size so I just made all 9 to be done with it. A serving of six is 4 points. Which isn't all that bad but then you add in the thousand island dressing I dip it in and it's already up to 6 points, which is a whole Smart Ones. I've gotta find a better way to eat shrimp.

I'm doing it!!!

Ok, so, a couple of weeks ago I got on a scale and I saw a number I never, ever wanted to see: 200 lbs. Holy s***!!! So I gotta do something.

Stats:
Age: 26
Weight: 204 lbs.
Height: 5'4"
Size: 14

So the way I am planning to do this is through the use of a Wii Fit Plus and pirated Weight Watchers points plan. But to be quite fair, it's technically not WW since I'm not paying for it so henceforth we will just refer to it as "Points".

I've already been doing Wii Fit for a week but so far no changes for the better (in fact I think I've gained a pound).

So, now I am adding in the diet aspect. First of all, I'm going pescetarian. Which means the only animals I'll eat come from underwater. I was a strict vegetarian for five years but for reasons outside of my control was not able to keep it up for the last two years and at this juncture am not willing to give up seafood...yet.

I found out all I needed to know about Points on the internet. This is specific to me, points values differ based on height, weight and sex.

Points:
Daily points: 24-29
FLEX points (per week): 35
Where to calculate points: http://www.meganandjack.com/points_calculator.htm
Where to find generic/fresh food points: http://quiddity.cc/rachel/diet/wwfoods.htm

As far as a goal, I'm gonna start small. I'd like to lose 10 pounds before my 27th birthday, which is April 20. That leaves me about 7 weeks to lose 10 pounds, which is a nice healthy rate without too much pressure.

Goal:
Loss: 10 lbs.
Date: April 20
Time: 7 weeks

For the last week I have used my Wii Fit Plus 6 days out of 7. Every time was for at least 30 minutes and averaged about 40 minutes. But I was only doing Basic Hula Hoop and Basic Step. And sometimes the basic biking game in the Balance Activities. So I'm now going to broaden my horizons.

Wish me luck!
